DECALOGUE OF STRONG WOMAN

Over the last few years, my dreams have been chasing me persistently, today it is high time that I follow them obediently. Now I know that there is compromise in this regard.

Beata May

Women have strength and painting has enormous power to show it. Perhaps it seems to us that we do not have sufficient knowledge, we are not familiar with painters and artists of many generations but let us remember that they know everything about us. The trick is in not following the beaten path – the trends. Art is an individual document of spiritual changes, a record of a person’s personality. Each of my paintings is an independently existing creation that is the embodiment of the logic of my action.

As a writer I know that both – the written word and the spoken word are a more embarrassing form of communication for me. Painting is definitely a bolder exchange of thoughts. A performance, a perceptible game of appearances, a form of content intended for one viewer only. The viewer who stands in front of the painting and makes contact with it – win-win. I have instinctively decided that sport is the best carrier of information for me. If something is causing the blood to rush then why should I let it go? Probably, it is worth doing.

I am a painter, a craftsperson, working with brush and paint, creating art that escapes the present. Painting fills my life, it is a sensual experience. Time inspires reflection, people are  fascinating. The paintings are not a silent monologue, I would say they are the opposite. They are a story, a play of my imagination.

The ball has become a method of socialisation for me as an artist. A cause for admiration, an object of love. As a prop, it reveals a part of the truth about human experience. Unconventionally going beyond the contours of more than one football pitch. The paintings are a manifestation and discourse on football. In the meanders of conflicts and on-going games, a golden thread appears to be the bond. In spite of the usual standards, I prove that this is a performance by women for women. There is no clear line between “I” and “you”, so I assume that the doubled “you” is a game between two people, still different, although of the “same” gender. The duality of the figures in the paintings sheds new light on the mysterious unrepeatability of each painting.

Thus I struggle with the problem of the truth, feeling the need to account for the lack of tolerance, the lack of human rights, the suppression of the fact that there is strength in women. As a result, I eliminate the rivalry in favour of a lack of short-sightedness. My art does not disappear under the pressure of the world outside, it evolves. I live with a deep conviction that I influence this world through my paintings. By iconising people, I testify to equality. My art is not meant to shock, it is meant to educate. Moving from one painting to another has been very stimulating for me. My idea has been to show a non-mediated presentation of difference as a positive force.

Do you see what surrounds us, baby? – I continued my argument. Earth is a huge magnetic field. We are isolated from it by the enormity of asphalt, concrete and the footwear by rubber soles – I pointed my finger at her shoes. This has made us pay too high a price for the comfort of civilization. The consequences are tantamount to disturbances on the physical and mental level of people. It’s a bit sad. Our bodies are overloaded with positive charges, in order to survive, we must discharge them based on Mother Earth. – I invite you to a euphoric experience!

I help

What we have done for ourselves dies with us;
what we have done for others and for the world remains and is immortal.

Albert Pike

Single motherhood has made me realize that I am not alone in life. For over a dozen years, I have performed one of the most important roles in life: I am a mother. Pictures have inspired me to change my life. The emotions I convey are sincere. I have decomposed my life so far into its first elements, and I realized that my knowledge and experience may be useful to others. By helping others, I help myself. People who need our help are around us. When you help them, it means that you have done something to help them move forward.

30% of the proceeds from the sale of paintings during the event are dedicated to a good cause.
